MATH 132: Elementary Functions and Calculus II (flipped classroom), Spring 2026
Description: This is the third course a calculus sequence that begins with Math 105 (Pre-calc) and Math 13100 (Elementary Functions and Calculus I). The course begins with the trigonometric functions and proceeds with the basics of integration. Topics include the definition of the integral, computational techniques, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and applications to exponential, logarithmic, and inverse trigonometric functions. This course also develops integration techniques such as integration by parts and algebraic and transcendental substitutions. This course balances computation with conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, proof, and geometric interpretation.
MATH 255: Basic Algebra II, Spring 2025
Description: This course covers rings and ideals, PIDs, Euclidean domains, UFDs, fields and field extensions, modules and canonical forms of matrices, quadratic forms, and multilinear algebra.
MATH 276, Dynamical Systems, Winter 2025
Description: This course gives an introduction to concepts and examples in the study of dynamical systems. The key notions of recurrence, classification, stability, entropy and chaos will be introduced and illustrated through model examples. A variety of areas of dynamics will be covered, and may include topological dynamics, symbolic dynamics, ergodic theory, and smooth dynamics.
MATH 257, Honors Basic Algebra I, Fall 2024
Description: Topics include the theory of finite groups, commutative and noncommutative ring theory, modules, linear and multilinear algebra, and quadratic forms. We also cover basic field theory, the structure of p-adic fields, and Galois theory.
